Postcards From London screens this week in London – featuring Production Design by Ollie Tiong.

Following a long hiatus since director Steve McLean’s last feature – Postcards from America – the film charts the journey of teenager Jim from his hometown in Essex to London in search of fame and beauty. Instantly embraced by a clutch of raffish intellectual male escorts, Jim becomes the centre of a niche world of art-obsessed rent boys and their patrons, further complicated by the discovery of his susceptibility to Stendhal Syndrome.

Shot entirely on a soundstage, designer Ollie Tiong was tasked with recreating the streets, booths and corridors of Soho – realised fully in the film in all their luminous vibrancy.

Postcards From London screens at the Institute of Contemporary Arts from this Friday.
